After 14 years of financial setbacks,
multiple job transfers all over the Southeast, and 4 difficult
pregnancies, the Jones family was truly blessed when they were transferred
unexpectedly to the peaceful and BEAUTIFUL Blue Ridge Mountains in SW Virginia.
(At that time their
youngest and last child was just 2 months old!) To their amazement, their new home was not only located on top of a mountain, but you could
see the Blue Ridge Parkway from their very own back yard. There was no
dishwasher, no air conditioning, no double car garage, but the view was
simply breathtaking!!!
Having lived in large cities for most
of their lives, moving to a more peaceful and rural area was quite an experience... and one they will never forget. The scenery was gorgeous,
the change of seasons were spectacular every year, and the people were loving, generous,
sincere, and content with life.
For Michelle (a
stressed-to-the-max mom of 4 who longed to simply write a book about saving
money to help other families get through tough times),
God must have known this life-changing place was exactly what she needed. Even though the family
had to do without a few luxuries such as city water, electric heat, air conditioning,
etc. for four years, this move to the Blue Ridge Parkway turned out to be a
time of healing and inspiration (complete with a daily therapeutic drive up and down that 2,600 ft.
mountain).
When this family publishing company was
born about a year after their move, nothing seemed more appropriate than to
name it after the area that brought so much peace and joy to Michelle's family each and
every day. Although they were transferred again in 2003 to King, NC
(the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains located about half-way between Mt. Airy and
Winston-Salem) and again in 2006 to Atlanta, Georgia, the family hopes
to stay in this beautiful region of the world for many years to come.
